Most tests are analysed within one week, however, there are certain tests which require several weeks to be processed. All results are reviewed by our clinical team upon their arrival at the practice. Due to the high volume of test results, we regretfully cannot contact each individual with their results. We advise patients to proactively call us for their results to ensure that all information and instructions regarding your test result are passed on to you.
If your result indicates the need for urgent attention, we will contact you as soon as possible.
Please contact the practice 1 week after your test. Our patient services team will assist you in accessing your test results and informing you about the doctor's comments, including any actions that we have taken or want you to take.
We cannot give test results to friends or relatives unless we have your written permission.
You can access your health records in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To do so, you must complete a Subject Access Request Form. This is available from our reception or can be downloaded using the link below:
Return the completed form to our reception desk. Please note that you will be asked to provide proof of identity during the submission process.
Due to the administrative time required for such requests, it may take up to 30 days to be processed. This time limit may be extended in extenuating circumstances.
The more specific you can be (e.g. a specific document or result), the easier it is to quickly provide you with the information that you require.
In certain situations, information that has the potential to cause excessive stress or harm to individuals may be withheld.
Michele Postans who is our Practice Manager acts as the named Data Controller. If you have any questions or require further assistance, she will be happy to assist.
For any queries related to your hospital treatment, care or correspondence, please contact Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary on 01387 246246 and ask for the Data Protection Team. You can also email them directly at email@example.com
To ensure proper processing of your specimen, please adhere to the following instructions:
We can only accept specimens that have been requested by a doctor or nurse.
Please deliver all specimens to the surgery early in the day, and ideally before 2 pm. This is to ensure they reach the lab on the same day.
Please hand the specimens to the reception staff in the provided plastic bag.
For accurate results, specimens must be handed into reception on the day they are obtained.
